Goals

It’s been a long time since I’ve set any goals. The last few years I’ve enjoyed running and the excitement it brings every time you accomplish the marathon distance. This year I hope to complete my 10th Marine Corps Marathon which also marks ten years of marathon running. I also turn 38 next week (ouch that was hard to say) and as I look back over the last nine years, running has opened so many doors, helped me heal and has showed me physical strength I never knew was possible. I grew up playing sports and always was considered athletic, but I accepted that I wasn’t the top athlete on my team. I think that carried into running because I never seek AG awards, Boston Qualifying times or trying to be the top runner in any race. I have noticed I keep a balance between pushing myself and having fun. Pushing myself out of my comfort zone is something I shy away from only because I don’t want it to ruin my love for running. With that said, am I still running strong? Wait for it… and then I saw this online….

What is my strong? This year’s goal is to find my strong. I’m not sure what it is yet, but this year I hope to find it. Race a 10k? Check out a marathon in a new state? Enjoy the scenes during a half marathon in my favorite town? I hope to enjoy the ride as I work towards the anniversary of my 1st Marine Corps Marathon ten years ago. #runstrong19
