Lava Love

Today I went for a run after two days of intense wind. Yesterday I woke up eager to run, but instead sidelined by 33 degrees, 17mph winds and real feel 22 degrees. So, I did a quick three mile bike ride and looped the water. Despite my frozen fingers and wind burned cheeks it was a beautiful morning.

Today I tried again; however, waited until 7pm in hopes of waiting out the wind. (Well at least it dropped down to 12mph!) I looped the boardwalk, hit Baltimore Ave and came up Bay Blvd. The wind hit me from the south but the Allman Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Eagles and Faces kept me moving and playing air drums. Perfect five miles on a cold shore evening.

Barre, Run, Repeat

Today I went to barre and took a rest day from running. This week I had a great mix of runs and barre classes. Monday I had an AWESOME barre class focusing on arms and abs, it really was a great new routine and fun group. Next I fit in two other runs besides my threshold run Wednesday. It was a good mix of paces, running friends and cross training. I squeezed in one last barre class last minute on Friday before scrambling to get my daughter ready for her Daddy Daughter Dance. It was a solid week, now to deal with losing an hour this weekend!!!

Barre and 7 Miles

Today I went for a run after an awesome morning barre class. I have to admit my barre streak took a hit in January. Tapering and Recovering from running the A1A Marathon prevented me from getting my barre routine solidified after the holiday. Luckily I like to think February is when the new year really starts. I just celebrated my birthday, I’m setting new running goals and getting back into routine. February at Inline Barre is their big promotional month and lots of newbies fill classes. This morning was no exception. There is nothing more empowering than a packed room of females of all shapes, sizes, and athletic abilities there to better themselves. Due to the packed room, we did lots of work at the barre and despite what you might think – it was intense! After class I took to the hilly roads of Perry Hall and ran on tired legs. Thankfully no long runs this weekend and no crazy training runs – just a fun run. A successful fitness Saturday and a perfect start to the weekend.

Sidelined

Today I did not go for a run, but biked along with guys on the hills of Kingsville. My calf/achillies was not feeling any relief despite the compression, ice, rolling and attention I was providing. It was a perfect morning, cooler temperatures in the 60s, and I was sidelined. In hopes that I might get lucky, I asked Paul if he had a bike to use – he did!!! This was awesome, yet terrifying due to the many hills!!! We began our route and I hung with the guys, only leaving them when I needed to accelerate up a hill. At the top of the first hill my heart was pounding. For someone who thought they were in shape, it was alarming how my heart felt like it was going to jump out if my chest!!! We continued on, enjoying the route I hadn’t seen since early spring. Reminders of the rolling hills kept my cycling until the end.
