The Miami Marathon #32

Today I went for a run and completed the Miami Marathon with Shawn. The weather had forecasted rain, but instead we transitioned from a sprinkle to gusty wind pushing the front out leaving lots of humidity and then sunny skies. The race was an awesome course that took you through the major neighborhoods of Miami – Downtown, Miami Beach, South Beach, Coconut Grove, Biscayne, and Brickell. I ran with Shawn sharing stories about our previous trips, where he grew up and the historic parts of Miami. It was an awesome race despite the heat and the first full marathon that I shared with Shawn. (Run a marathon with your husband and you’ll learn whether or not your marriage will last! I think we will be just fine!)

Expo Saturday in Miami

Today I went for a run on A1A in Ft. Lauderdale. Have you ever found a new route that you just can’t get enough of!? I have visited Ft. Lauderdale four times and this run is always a relaxing run along the beachfront street with “hip” restaurants and bars along the way that remind me I’m boarder line too old to be hip. It rained on and off all day, but it didn’t discourage us from having a good time at the expo while catching up with my Team Ultra teammates. We had a great dinner at Pez and got to share our running adventures, fears and excitement for the upcoming Miami Marathon/Half Marathon!

Flight to Su…Rainy Florida

Today I went for a run and now I’m eagerly waiting for my flight to Florida! My long day started with a 5am run with the guys dodging rain puddles that had frozen over night. School was busy with the semester coming to an end, but I got in a great lesson on The Maryland General Assembly and law making powers. (Pretty relevant based on national news!) Now I get to enjoy a weekend away with my husband as a treat for our anniversary and run the Miami Marathon since I didn’t get into the Chicago Marathon. Looking forward to a new rainy adventure on the streets of South Beach where we eloped!

People on streets Ee da de da de🎵

Today I went for a run before my son had his “informance” concert at night. Afternoon runs are usually tough and sometimes I need more than a little motivation. I broke out my headphones and listened to some tunes I recently downloaded from Queen, Pat Benatar, Kansas and The Allman Brothers. Under Pressure and Heartbreaker kept me moving the last two miles, so much that, it got me playing the air drums. Awesome afternoon run done! <insert air cymbal fade away>

Flash Freeze

Today I went for a run and the wind was pretty fierce! The snow storm that was a bust was followed up with super high winds that will cause a “flash freeze” later. Shawn and I got in a hilly loop before the winds picked up too much. I started to look at my race calendar for the year and it’s time to pick some new goals! Goal setting is always an intimidating process because it forces you to reflect on where you are and where you are going, all while pushing you into the unknown.

Ice Patches Wednesday

Today I went for a run while jumping ice patches and enjoying the thoughts of warmer Floridian weather being less than two weeks away. It was a standard Wednesday morning run with ice covering the sidewalks and a cool 22 degrees. I’m starting to get pretty excited about running the streets of Miami, enjoying an awesome celebratory Cuban sandwich and meeting up with some of my Team Ultra teammates! More importantly I’m excited about watching the sun rise over the ocean and getting lost in the excitement of a new marathon experience. #miamifamous #notrunningwithoutyou

Snow Day and No School!

Today I went for a run on the first snow day of 2019! I am less than two weeks out from the Miami Marathon and I have not gotten many long runs in my weekly milage. I started to increase the milage each week, but really have lacked motivation to get in the long run. I’m glad I got up this morning to tag along with the guys and add on another 5 miles, giving me a total of 10. Today was one of those runs when you can get lost in the sun rising over the fields.

Snow Run

Today I went for a run in the snow!!!! I was able to sleep in until the plows woke me up around 630am. I made the kids pancakes then we put together my daughters new loft bed. Next, me and the guys went for a run through the snow on a few side roads that were safe enough to run. Nothing beats the cold air in your chest and the sound of snow crunching under your strong stride.

Will it Finally Snow Saturday!?

Today I went for a run with the girls on a chilly Saturday morning. I was scheduled to be at school by 7:30 am and waking up to run at 5am on the weekend was not making me jump for joy. Nonetheless, I laced up and layered up to meet the girls for a five mile loop. Cold was an understatement. But I got my five, frigid miles done and worked to help fifteen seniors meet their graduation requirements later at school.

Double Friday

Today I went for a run at 5am and 3pm. This has been a long, freezing cold week and I was just not motivated to get outside yesterday. That meant I was going to double my Friday run. I got up and ran with the guys and was still motivated enough to get a run in with Laura after school. Bring on the weekend!!!
