Whhhyyyyyy

Today I went for a run for the first time since Sunday. My IT band has revolted against me running for two weeks now and shows no end in sight. I took the week off from running and got in three days of barre and two days on the rowing machine. Today I finally went out for an easy four miles and although my leg was sore, there was no burning/stabbing pain. It was a perfect, super windy day and after not running for a week it felt amazing to hit the road – even if it was only four miles. (After my low miles week how appropriate was my fortune tonight when we went out to dinner at our favorite place in Chinatown/DC)

St Pat’s 5k with Abigail

Today I went for a run in shorts and a tank top at 5am! The warm weather is here…. maybe?! Despite the beginnings of a cold I got in some fast pace speeds today…. and then fell. I mean totally wiped out which included both knees, my hand and my finger tips getting banged up. Despite feeling under the weather and pretty sore from my fall, I still got in my 5k race with my daughter later in the evening for the BRRC St Patrick’s Day run. We looped through Patterson Park in Baltimore. It was a struggle for my daughter, but she fought through and even had a sprint left in her at the end to finish.

Longest Day

Today I went for a run in the early hours before a super busy day. I didn’t realize how cold the run was until I got home and my hands could hardly move to shampoo my hair. School was busy followed by barre class and then my son had a soccer game. The highlight of my day was being able to pick up my custom made tumbler from my friend!!! I love the quote and all the sparkles!!!

March Winds

Today I went for a run in 50 degree weather, but +16mph winds. March sure comes in like a lion, but hopefully the sun and warmer temperatures are here to stay. I got in a run after school that was pretty solid despite the initial wind wall. I might be embarrassed to admit this, but Cardi B came on and I was jammin…. “They call me Cardi Bardi, banging body, Spicy mami, hot tamale…” Ha!

Run Meh

Today I went for a run and got in some miles after taking it easy this week. This was a busy week and I was just too tired to run. My parents came into town Friday and left Saturday so I was happy to spend time with them at the expense of running. Also my leg was still a little stiff, maybe from my fall last week or the treadmill miles, so taking a break helped. Overall I got my miles in after church and then got to take my daughter to DC for some girl time. Bam.

More Treadmiles

Today I went for a run after barre class. Call me a wimp, but it has been too cold to run outside lately. So today I had a solid barre class which kicked my butt. Second I hopped on the treadmill at home to get in five easy miles. I’ve been pretty sore lately in the same leg, maybe it’s the treadmill playing mindgames. Glad I got it done…. just keep showing up!

19 Feels Like too Cold to Run

Today I went for a run and got in six treadmiles. It was super chilly today with ‘feels like’ 9 degree temperatures. I had a busy day at school, picked up my daughter from her school and then jumped on the treadmill at home. Sometimes treadmill runs seem to feel like you have been sent on a long journey to no where. But today I took to the treadmill with Led Zeppelin and my new shoes and got through a solid run smiling.

Sunday Shakes

Today I went for a run before a ‘massive’ snow storm is set to blanket the northeast. I got in some hilly miles in the morning and was honestly proud of the steady pace I held despite the steep climbs in the Kingsville area. I feel my legs gaining strength due to Barre classes and adding in random speedwork. After a busy morning of Faith Formation and running errands the kids and I grabbed milkshakes as a treat. It’s all about balance right!? (PS – How about the Tokyo Marathon yesterday in the pouring rain!!! We watched the cool views of the city and hoped to catch a glimpse of a few Team Ultra teammates.)

13 Misty Miles

Today I went for a run getting in a Taco Bell Harbor Half with the girls. The rainy, snowy overnight mix hung around and forced us to push through a damp first half of our run. Despite the dreary weather, we finished 13 miles while enjoying our conversation and a few good laughs along the way. Running in wet socks, in damp weather, in cold winds or in less than ideal conditions usually forces one to question why they are out there in the first place. Just remember — “If you wait for perfect conditions, you’ll never get anything done.” Ecclesiates 11:4 — so what are you waiting for?

Snow Delay Friday

Today I went for a run after I was able to sleep in a little due to a delayed school opening. We got about two/three inches of snow last night and decided to get a run in now that school was delayed. I ran with the guys around the usual loop filled with slush and snow. It was a great run, with a pretty backdrop – a perfect way to start a Friday morning. Now I’m ready for a fun weekend with the kids, hopefully for a day trip to DC. (Forced history fun by their teacher mom)
